It was only fitting that he would receive his formal education in both states as well. First, he earned his Bachelor of Science with Distinction from Indiana University. Dr. Mize then completed his dental training at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry in 2007 and received the prestigious Dental Student Award for Outstanding Achievement in Periodontics upon graduation. Upon finishing his Certificate in Periodontics and Master of Health Sciences in 2010, he was presented with the Inaugural Award for Academic Excellence in Periodontics by the College of Dental Medicine. Following graduation, Dr. Mize entered into private practice and provided patient care alongside his general dentistry colleagues for five years in Boston, Massachusetts emphasizing an interdisciplinary approach and he continues to carry forth this philosophy of practice here in West Columbia. Dr. Mize is extensively trained in all areas of periodontics and implant surgery including advanced bone and sinus grafting techniques. He also holds an active membership in the Harvard Odontological Society, one of the world’s most historic dental organizations. Locally, Dr. Mize is also a Clinical Assistant Professor at The Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University and dedicates his time to training the periodontal residents in the graduate clinic. In 2015, he was presented with the Educator Award by the American Academy of Periodontology for his contributions to teaching and mentorship of post-doctoral periodontal students at Harvard University. He also stays active through exercise and regularly competes in mountain obstacle races as well as the occasional half-marathon. As a certified open-water diver, Dr. Mize has engaged in scuba dives across the globe and is always looking for the next adventure in the life aquatic. Meet Our Office Mascot, Timmylanap boston

Timmy is our office mascot. He likes brushing his own teeth and loves meeting new people. He is a Miniature American Shepherd (Aussie) but he always thinks that he is a big dog like Doberman or Rottweiler. He recently completed the Puppy Headstart Program and the training on how to smile, sit, give his paw, high five, roll over, and ring a bell when he needs to go outside. In his free time, he enjoys chasing birds and squirrels and gallivanting around the neighborhood and dog parks in Columbia to meet new dogs and people.
