3D Cone Beam CT Scans
Sunset Periodontics is excited to offer 3D Cone Beam CT scan imaging in our office utilizing the Gendex GXDP-700S. This equipment allows us to take a 3D scan of your jaws and accurately plan your implant case. Two selectable 3D fields of view allow the examination area to be precisely selected, therefore reducing patient radiation dose to the lowest amount possible. Radiation dose levels of the GXDP-700S are considerably lower than with medical CT imaging and thus provides a relatively safer way to generate 3D imaging. Along with 3D imaging capability, the machine can also take crystal-clear panoramic images and vertical bitewings for those patients who have gagging issues with traditional x-rays.
With this cutting-edge technology, Dr. Mize can assess the jawbone via high-resolution cross-sections. He can then determine the height, width, and density of the bone along with the precise location of vital structures such as the mandibular nerve and the maxillary sinus. Combined with data from the Trios digital impression, implant placement can be done on the computer taking into account all of the structures of your jaw. The virtual surgical plan can then be sent wirelessly to the in-house MoonRay 3D Printer which creates a highly accurate surgical guide for Dr. Mize to use during implant placement.
